Kelowna Track & Field Club Merges with Okanagan Athletics Club
The Kelowna Track & Field Club membership voted yesterday to merge with the newly formed Okanagan Athletics Club. The new club expects to have its membership application accepted by BC Athletics on March 19th. While a skeleton Kelowna Track & Field Club board will remain in existence for the next year or so to help wrap up the merger, all current members of the KT&FC board resigned last night and were re-elected to the board of the Okanagan Athletics Club
The Kelowna Athletics community is excited about the change which will allow the local club to offer payment to a Manager and Head Coach, while still operating as a non-profit society.
The Jack Brow Memorial Meet will now be hosted by the Okanagan Athletics Club and remains scheduled for the weekend of July 2-3, 2011.
The Okanagan Athletics Club is grateful to the Kelowna Track & Field Club for establishing a strong foundation of track and field in Kelowna and looks forward to continuing the tradition under a new banner, new name, and new colors (red, black and gold).
